✅ What We Loved

The service!! Whilst this isn’t directly about the toilet facilities we must mention the team at Wavecrest. They always respond brilliantly to booking requests and ensure that we’re seated with accommodation for Scott in his chair. They helped us to the table and moved the additional seat, it always feels like nothing is too much.

Cleanliness – The toilet is impeccably clean, there is a neutral smell and they provide sanitary bags if there is a need for them.

Handrail positioning- It is difficult to please every accessibility need. The toilet is not on the ideal side for Scott with left sided weakness, however the number of handrails and their location made it easy for him to safely transfer.

🛠️ What Was Done Well

The room has a good amount of space to transfer and the team have ensured there is not too much clutter to avoid obstacles for wheelchair users.

The red chord was not tied up and was to the ground, it would be easy to reach for a user in trouble.

I also appreciated the subtle beach-themed decor as it gave the room some personality. Far too often these rooms are a little clinical and sterile.

🤔 What Could Be Better

There were hooks just outside the door on the wall, however there were no hooks in the room to hand belongings/coats etc, there was also no shelf in the room.

This was also the baby changing room, but there would have been no room to locate this elsewhere and in small setting such as this we don’t feel there would ever be a long wait.

With the room being predominantly white, the lighting was quite bright.

💬 Final Thoughts:

For a relatively small square footage, this fabulous cafe has ensured that accessibility is a priority for them. We visit here often, as we feel safe in the knowledge that there are appropriate facilities for us to use. Be aware there is a little hill going up to the cafe with a graveled surface, can be a bit difficult with a wheelchair, however if you ask the staff they are more than happy for you to drive up to drop off and then park your car after. They really are a great team.
